Kid-friendly Activities in DC, Maryland & Northern Virginia this Weekend (11/22 - 11/24)
With these warmer than normal temperatures, we've been exploring the great outdoors more, like our most recent trip to the Washington Youth Garden. Did you know there's a one-acre education garden at the National Arboretum? "It was originally established in 1971 to teach local elementary students horticulture and life skills." Since then, thousands of youth have benefited from not only educational and volunteer opportunities but also the food that's grown there. This garden features several variety of vegetables and herbs as well as a bee hive and learning nook. We sampled radish and kale while visiting and participated in garden games. I highly encourage checking out their Green Ambassador employment program for high school students and volunteer opportunities for teens! Tap Jack's photo above for more info on the youth garden. Happy planning your pre-Thanksgiving weekend with the recommendations listed below!
