Kid-friendly Activities in DC, Maryland & Northern Virginia this Weekend (6/13 - 6/15)

Summer Reading Challenges are Here!
Summer is (almost) here! And that means Summer Reading Challenges are in full swing. DC Public Library hosts "Discover Summer" through August 31st with the opportunity to visit museums in DC for free and plenty of summer fun for all ages. Last year, we visited the Phillips Collection as part of Discover Summer and participated in an art project honoring DC's own Alma Thomas. There was a storytime, book giveaways and a chance to visit the museum for free, which was our first time there. (I will say if you're planning to visit the Phillips Collection, especially with younger children, visit on The Phillips Plays days, which occur once a month. They tend to follow young children like a HAWK throughout the art collections, which got a bit annoying.) Most library systems in our area have some form of the Summer Reading Challenge, which also includes prizes throughout or at the end of summer. Tap the image above for more info on Discover Summer! Happy Planning!
