HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope everyone had a joyous and restful holiday. Heavy on the restful! Let me turn your attention to the National Gallery of Art's Photography and the Black Arts Movement, 1955 – 1985 exhibit, which closes this Sunday (1/11). We got a chance to view it over the weekend and I absolutely loved the layout. We walked through each room, read captions and pointed out our favorites among the collection. There are works on display by notable photographers/artists including Gordon Parks, Kwame Brathwaite, Roy DeCarava, and Doris Derby to name a few. Depictions of everyday life during the civil rights and freedom movements declared a range of emotions for that time period that I'm thankful my kids got to witness through their work. A memorable trip to say the least. This exhibit is located in the West Building on the main floor (upper level) to the left of the rotunda. Admission is free! Tap the photo above for more information on the exhibit. Plenty more to see and explore this weekend as listed down below.
