Across the DC metro area, there are plenty of family-friendly Valentine’s Day events and activities designed with kids, tweens, and teens in mind. From creative workshops and themed outings to low-key experiences that celebrate love, kindness, and connection, this guide highlights fun and age-appropriate ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day across DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.

Valentine’s Day isn’t just about candy and classroom cards! It’s a great opportunity for families to spend quality time together. I added some self-care recommendations towards the bottom of this  that you can visit year round.

On Saturday, February 14, head to Oxon Hill Library for the Pages of History: A Vintage Black Magazine Exhibit. This exhibit features a community member’s personal collection of Black magazines from the 1960s to today. Celebrate Black History Month by exploring decades of photography, fashion, and stories that shaped Black culture.

On Saturday, February 14, make V-day themed cupcakes in Waldorf, MD! This fun, festive, hands-on cupcake decorating experience is designed especially for little Valentines. Tickets start at $50 per person.

Love is in the air… and literally for these beautiful birds of prey at Potomac Overlook Regional Park in Arlington! See live raptors, learn about their mating habits during breeding season, and have your picture taken with a live bird of prey.
